Just received Ming Yi’s project.

Hi guys!

I have just returned from a short holiday in KL, Malaysia with my family. Will update you guys on my KL adventures at a later time. I have just checked my mail and I am very happy to receive more outstanding projects from Ethan (3D), Shuyu (3D), Marilyn (3J), Gayle (3J) and Jordan (3D).

Their projects are posted here from your reference.

As result of man’s activity, acres of forest are cleared each day.  At the same time, some of our rivers are now so polluted that it is no longer safe to go near them.

Make a study on how deforestation and/ or water pollution affects the life cycle of humans and animals.  It will be a bonus if you can present your findings based on specific examples. e.g. how deforestation affected the Orang Utans.

You can do this project individually or in pairs.  The grade of this project will NOT be included in your SA2 results. Nevertheless, the amount of effort you put in it will demonstrate to me how diligent you are as a pupil.

Also, in line with our effort to be environmentally friendly, you are encouraged to submit your project via email.

Be creative and have fun!

As we are learning about plants now, you may want to pay closer attention to the plants you see around you daily. I took these pictures of plants around my flat a few days ago. I am sure you will find many more interesting plants around your area.

Hi guys,

School starts on Monday! Aren’t we all looking forward to it? If you are still struggling with your science project, I have decided to provide a link to Yuan Ying’s (3D) submission for your reference. Yuan Ying has kindly gave her permission for me to share her work with you. I hope her excellent work will provide you with the necessary inspiration.

Hi guys,

I have improved on the body covering song. The lyrics are as follows:

All our bodies have coverings.
Hair, shell, scales and feathers, their names.
Mammals have hair, fish have scales,
Birds have feathers and turtles have shells.”
(sang to the tune of Scarborough Fair)

This was how you sang it:

Dear 3J,

Today we discussed about how objects can be classified. For example, the entire class of 3J can be classified into boys and girls. In addition, among the boys and girls, we can further classify them into those who wear glass versus thoses who don’t. I hope you had a good time sorting out the advertisement into their correct classification. :)

Dear 3J,

Today we learnt how to make simple comparison between two objects. I hope you enjoyed comparing the grapes which I had bought for you.

By the way, thanks for clearing up the mess after the experiment. :)

I wanted to take 3J out to the school field for their science lesson today. However, it had started to rain early in the morning and the rain persisted through the day. I had to make a snap decision, to postpone the lesson or to continue with the lesson indoors.

In the end, I decided to conduct the lesson within the canteen vicinity. Initially, I was worried that the pupils may not be able to find enough examples of living things around the canteen. I was therefore pleasantly surprised that many of them were able to come up with a rather long list. It shows that raw enthusiasm can sometimes overcome many obstacles. :)

Hi 3J,

It is a pity I did not get chance to meet you guys last week because we did not have any lessons together. I hope to know all of you better. Here are the photographs which I had taken of the class:
