I have just written an article for one of the school’s publication and it is in Chinese! You can read it at this link. http://myclass.wordpress.com/%E7%99%BE%E5%B9%B4%E6%A0%91%E4%BA%BA/
The point here is not about how well or badly the article is written, but rather how difficult I have found to write a decent article in Chinese. This is despite learning Chinese as my “first language” most of my school life. So what happened to my command of the language? Well, to put it bluntly, I have lost it.
How did I lose it? Through lack of practice and lack of use. That’s the thing with languages. Either you use it or you lose it. I hope by sharing this personal experience, I can shed some light for your learning journey for the languages. To quote an old Chinese proverb: “学习如逆水行舟, 不进则退.” The day we stop learning, is the day we start moving backwards.
So happy learning!
Hello everyone, I started this class blog thing this year with only mild success. (For details of my previous blogs please visit 3cnyps.blogspot.com and 3gnyps.blogspot.com). In anticipation of my new classes next year I have decided to start a brand new blog. Since I have not been told which classes I will be teaching next year, I had chosen a generic name “myclass”.
I have also decided to maintain only one blog for my classes next year to cut down on the administrative time. From experience, I tend to repeat the content for the blogs of the different classes. Furthermore, maintaining more than one blog can be tedious work. By cutting down on the need to duplicate my posts, I hope to present a neater and more engaging blog next year.
So I am keeping my fingers crossed and hope that next year will be a better year. At least from the blogging perspective.
